Shahrukh Khan to perform at IIFA

After a long gap of seven years, Shahrukh Khan returns to the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) weekend to be held this year in Toronto from June 23 to 25. He’s set to making a breath-taking comeback.

"Don Ko Pakadna Mushkil Hi Nahin, Namumkin Hai" mouthed Shahrukh Khan in Farhan Akhtar's Don. However, it appears that the cops seem to have got the better of Don in the sequel Don 2 which is currently being shot in Malaysia.

Shahrukh, who essays the title role of Don, is seen in a different look altogether with long unkempt hair and a stubble. This particular sequence shows King Khan in a fight sequence with some of the inmates in the jail.

It’s been a little more than a year since the last Shah Rukh Khan movie released but this year the star has two big releases — “Ra One” and “Don 2″.

“Ra One”, starring Khan and Kareena Kapoor, is set for a Diwali release while “Don 2″ is releasing on the Christmas weekend.

Given his long absence from the silver screen and the muted response to his new TV show “Zor Ka Jhatka”, Khan will be banking on these two projects to do well.

“Don 2″, directed by Farhan Akhtar, is the sequel to his 2006 remake of “Don”, and stars Khan along with Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani and Lara Dutta.

Rizwan is undeniably the best thing about My Name is Khan. Shah Rukh’s performance has little subtlety about it – for that watch Hugh Dancy doing Asperger’s in Adam – but it is heartfelt, endearing and more controlled than anything he’s ever done before. Watch him in a lovely scene in which Kajol accepts his proposal or how he restrains his tears so that his eyes brim but never well over.

I recommend that you see Khan for him. The film itself is too uneven to give us the emotional high we were waiting for.

Kajol is brilliant and this time her eyes do a lot more tlaking than her words. Watch out for the change in emotions reflected so beautifully in her eyes as the film goes through its turmoils. The screenplay clearly shows that both Shibani Bathija and Karan Johar have done their research and done it well. You can see that in SRK’s mannerisms and in the bigger picture.

But the true credit of the film goes to only one person – Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh Khan carries the story entirely on his shoulder without any crutches of make-up and prosthetics, his signature lover boy image left at the door along with the designer clothes or larger than life dialogues.

'MNIK' releases in Mumbai to huge response

Tremendous response marked the limited release of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'My Name Is Khan' in 13 cinema halls here Friday even as the Shiv Sena continued its protest against the film across Maharashtra.

Shiv Sainiks attempted to disrupt the screening of the film at all the 13 cinema halls here despite heavy security arrangements. The film was originally scheduled to be released in 63 movie halls in this metropolis.
