I will start this by saying i am not even going to discuss the bullshit and fuckery from supermarket magazines, seriously i would end up spitting with laughter all over my computer keys and won't be able to wipe it off, because my belly ache will be too much to handle. But for those interested Queen Llama the lame and her pitiful excuse of hookups and bullshit, topped with OMG Nikki and Kristen are not BFF's anymore....LMAO, no one could write this shit and pass it off as believable, because really...fan fiction, fan delusion, lunatics abound.
Now, we shall resume normal transmission...
When the lines between Rob and Kristen/Edward and Bella blur...
There has never been a reason to ship a couple as much as there has been with Edward and Bella. Twilight fans all over the world simply adore this iconic canon couple; the tall brooding vampire and his petite and fearless mortal fall in love, get married, have a baby and a near death experience all wrapped up into four books (that's four books JK. Rowling and not 7) the final book takes everyone on a roller coaster of emotions as Bella Swan gives her life (literally) to Edward when they finally become Husband and Wife.
Since 2008; fans have been swept along by this fantasy love story, the actors faces becoming synonymous with their characters, some believed the lines between them blurred even then.
As far as i am concerned when you throw yourself into a role (literally) and live this double life; a man who falls deeply in love with someone he really shouldn't be with, but can't help himself. Tries to keep away from the person he has fixated on and finally gives in because it's useless...
Lines tend to blur emotionally, because you live and breathe this double life...until the movie ends, until the final scene is wrapped and until you say goodbye to those you have worked with and walk away...
"Being away from someone, if you really like them, it makes it better. The more time you spend away, the more you're thinking about them the more you want to see them again." - Rob
"I guess we definitely had a strange dynamic, like i didn't feel like. I mean, i was just quite intimidated by her and it was weird at the same time. I was like; 'Your younger than me, you can't intimidate me' " - Rob
"We understand each other without words. I can tell Kristen about all my problems. But honestly i don't have to, because she's in the same position as i am."- Rob
"I mean, Kristen is great. she's uh one of the main reasons why i wanted to do this. Just because of her body of work and also the audition kinda made me feel different about it. I had no idea how to do it before the audition. I mean, she's an extraordinary actress." Rob
Do lines blur?
Well i believe they most definitely do. I have often quoted the whole 'this girl' line from Rob which was pretty significant at the time because he had walked away from a role which he poured himself completely into, yet found it hard to shake off the character he had immersed himself in. You can argue that Rob is pretty much a method actor and likes to get skin to skin with the person he is playing, but and it's a huge but...in the roles he has done before and indeed the roles he had done after - Rob has never had the same experience as he has, doing the first Twilight movie and the significant Twilight movies after.
Why is that?
Truth be told; Rob made it very well known not long after the movie had wrapped and indeed during moments of the MTV 'Twilight Tuesdays' that he thought Kristen was the 'best actress of her generation' that the only reason he decided to do Twilight was because Kristen was cast for the role of Bella Swan - opposite him. That he had just watched 'Into the Wild' when he got the call for the role of Edward Cullen, decided to audition for it. Got on a plane and slept on his Agent - Stephanie Ritz couch the night before...
Attended the audition and blew Kristen away so much so, that she pleaded with Catherine Hardwicke to cast him in the role of Edward. That he himself, wrote an email to Catherine begging for the role of Edward Cullen, even though he had never done that before in his life...
And even after that, he then admitted for the first time on camera during interviews that he had a crush on...wait for it...Kristen Stewart.
"Kristen is the best actress of her generation, and that's why i wanted to do this movie. I don't know why she is. She's just better than anyone else." - Rob
He also went around introducing Kristen as his fiancée, even going so far as to asking her to marry him countless times, a definite deal breaker with the media as they constantly asked him this question multiple times during the Twilight promotion. It's fair to say that Rob really didn't help himself during this time; his verbal vomit seemed to interest those willing to believe that there was more to their 'good working relationship' than meets the eye. Surely Kristen had a boyfriend and her head could not be turned by a handsome, cheeky, openly honest and charming, not so well known British actor?
"Rob is sexy, in a kind of tortured artist way. This might be because he is British. He's tall, looks like he is thinking all the time and is incredibly funny." - Kristen
"When i look in Rob's eyes i could look into his heart and he could do the same." - Kristen
"He can't lie, it makes things a little scary for him sometimes. But it's my favourite thing about him." - Kristen
Yes even by Kristen's own admission - Rob Pattinson can't lie. He wears his heart literally on his sleeve and speaks his mind (that has got him into more trouble than it's worth) which is one of the main qualities that Kristen likes and loves about him. Blurring the lines again i see?
Well, for one, Edward is also incapable of lying (yes he told a little fib in New Moon, but he thought he was trying to protect Bella) one of the many qualities Rob admires about his Edward Cullen character, is that he is old fashioned and believes in love ever lasting. That you can be with that one person for the rest of your life - no one else.
"I love the way he sings, it breaks my heart. And don't you think he's just gorgeous? Rob is also a very bad liar, he just can't do it." - Kristen
Most women would agree with Kristen's sentiments completely. It's not hard to see that Rob is both pleasing on the eye as Edward the vampire, as he is as himself.
As the movies have continued, so for me the lines have blurred. New Moon showed Edward leave Bella briefly. Then when he thought she had killed herself, after Rosalie called to say she had (you should never believe in rumours - art imitating life or the other way around?) decided he could no longer live without her. Only to be found by Bella when he was just about to sparkle in the sunlight. In Eclipse, when he ended up in the middle of a love triangle with Jacob. Only to once again save Bella's life from a brush with death and so they decided to get married. And now the final instalment over two movies, will show Edward and Bella together forever?
The rumours where never far away as the actors were seen together more and more. Where they just being 'good friends' eating dinner and going out and socialising, or was there more too it. Of course the fans of Rob saw this as a threat 'it was all purely PR for the movie, they are not Edward and Bella' no one ever believed they were (not in a sane mind anyway) most could separate the two, but you have to admit, the line between the fictional characters and the real life people seemed to move even closer together. By Rob's admission constantly, he often defended Edward but at the same time criticised his 'helplessness' He is the type of person that if he sees what he wants, he goes after it and this seems to be what has happened between the actors playing the romantic leads. Lines blurred in 2009; pretty much everyone knows this. Both were seen together, both took hotel rooms with adjoining doors.
Both attended music gigs together, were seen the day after the MTV Movie Awards coming out of a romantic location in LA, just before Rob flew to NYC to begin a new movie. Both spent holidays together and generally began doing...well everything together. As the movies have continued, so has this pattern continued.
"Kristen and i have a special bond together. She is the sweetest, smartest and strongest person i know. If we have a relationship i would rather not say, because my words get twisted around too much and can be 'old news' by the time this is printed." - Rob
"I would never cheapen my relationship by talking about them. People say 'just say who you're dating. Then people will stop being so ravenous about it.' It's like, No they won't! They'll just ask for specifics." - Kristen
It seems no matter where they go, people want to know something about them. We can all be guilty of a little curiosity, but to what point do you stop being so curious and just let it be?
I adore the fact that two people found each other in a very transparent and ruthless world they both work in. That they decided that being together was worth a few seconds, when the photographers shove cameras in your face and hurl abuse at you. When every journalist and fashion editor wants to know exact times, dates and what you were eating/wearing at the time. When fans are persistent to the point of 'insanity' as they scream and shout your names as soon as they see you. Often camping outside hotel rooms to catch a glimpse of your private time alone. When haters don't like who you are with and decide to write hate about your partner, calling them names, writing long poisonous blog posts about them just to get their frustrations off their chest. When they turn up at key events just to be nasty and threaten the one you are with, the one you love.
Rob has always been besotted with Kristen and that is a fact. Recently in interviews both have began being more open about their relationship (still not selling it) but they seem to be less afraid of letting people in. Kristen has matured into a wonderfully compassionate and headstrong woman who knows what she wants and is less afraid now of vocalising it. Before the media intimidated her, now she embraces a certain part of it. Maturity, life experience and being in a very 'committed relationship' helps your confidence and Kristen's confidence is showing more and more.
You only have to look at the recent premieres to see that she simply glowed with pride and with love. Her character finally gets the man she loves and marries him. Yes with every novel of the Twilight Saga so far, happiness is short lived, but in Kristen and Rob's life, they have learned to balance the two - private and public.
For me, the lines never blurred, because there were no lines there to begin with. You meet someone in your life who literally takes your breath away. Poetic that may seem, but sometimes it happens and more often than not. Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman initially didn't have an instant connection. It took spending time together, really getting to know each other, that then led to love. Yes the attraction was there, both incredibly good looking. But complications as in most things in life, got in the way.
Rob and Kristen in some ways met exactly the same way and the connection was there, it was palpable. It could have been Rob's crush that blurred the lines of character and actor after seeing Kristen in a movie, that did that. Kristen took a little bit more convincing before she decided to throw caution to the wind, but she was very young and by her own admission - very inexperienced with a lot of things in life. Whatever it was, despite the publicity surrounding them, they have been able to balance life and each other sometimes without the glare. Going ninja (colourful term of being able to get away from the glare of paps stalking them) and hiding more often than not.
Edward and Bella - Rob and Kristen, the end result is still the same. On the screen; you are swept away with the teenage love story. In real life; you are swept away with the lovely, tender and 'real' relationship between two very honest and very humble people.
If there were two people worth being together, because they don't follow the tradition of 'actors playing to the camera all the time' these two are it. Yes, there are those clinging to the hope that it's nothing but a PR stunt; they are only together because of the movies and once they are done (next year is the final instalment) they will go their separate ways, with a tidy little sum from the studio...better hold their breaths for a very long time.
If anything it only proves the lack of respect the so called 'Rob' or 'Kristen' fans have for the person they follow. That they believe their idols can be that shallow and that vain about themselves. As Kristen said herself; she wouldn't "sell her relationship just to cheapen it" - Rob has said the exact same thing;
"I don't really want to sell it either. Maybe if i was selling it, I'd talk about it more." - Rob
Why would Rob Pattinson want to sell this?
A relationship that is real needs to be treasured and protected - Rob and Kristen are all about protection.
It's never false; there is trust and complete faith in each other to make it work - Rob and Kristen are all about honesty and faith.
It is tender and loving, even in times when you are stressed - Rob and Kristen have been through a lot in their young years since being together.
But above all, it is honest and raw and always changing...
Did they blur the lines...
