Rob and Kristen - Breaking Hearts...

Rob and Kristen - Mr & Mrs Cullen...
*Peeks out from behind lurkdom - has everyone seen Breaking Dawn - Part 1 yet?*

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are two phenomenal actors. Not only are they phenomenal, they are both in their own right outstanding in everything they touch individually. I came into this Saga and fandom not expecting to walk away from a movie completely speechless. After witnessing a roller coaster of emotions from elation to downright sorrow, the acting is what blew me away. Yes, many will criticise some aspects of Breaking Dawn - part 1; i for one have one quibble and that was that...

It wasn't long enough. I can fully understand and appreciate Bill Condon's worries that in order to pack an entire book with so many complex story lines interwoven, he needed to split it in two. And yes, not every single page of the book could be put into over nearly two hours worth of a movie, some moments left me breathless, while others left me begging for more...much more. Oh and i am not talking about the 'Edward and Bella finally do it' scenes. If you want to see more naked flesh then i suggest you get yourself a porn movie, because what was shown in my opinion was just enough to put the point across - hence the PG-13 rating. I'm talking about the build up, the back story of Edward when he was first changed and his rebellion towards Carlisle (typical 17 yr old) i would have loved a little bit more of this and of course the lead up to the Wedding; a little bit more of an exchange between Alice and Bella, not to mention i missed the whole 'getting Charlie, gorgeous Charlie into his tux'
Stunning Kristen...
"This girl, this girl, this girl...is the only thing you need in your life, the only thing you need in your life, the only thing you need in your life." Robert explaining his mantra for playing Edward in Twilight.

Kristen shone in this movie like a very bright beacon throughout. She embraced Bella Swan in ways, i believe she has never done before. Of course this instalment of the saga was very special to her; what girl does not look forward to, never mind dream of their Wedding Day? When they would slip on the Wedding dress and walk down the aisle towards the man, who they would share the rest of their life with. If you closed your eyes; it was as if you were seeing it all through Bella. Or maybe it was just Kristen slipping on Bella like a second skin, instead of the dress and walking towards Rob dressed as Edward that made it all more personally real? Either way it was a moment when you saw for the first time the actress embracing not only the role but the moment as she shakily began walking towards Edward and Rob got to see Kristen for the first time as Bella - the Bride.
Intimately yours...
There where moments when you sensed that they left the characters behind for just a fraction and just overwhelmed themselves in the moment. The Wedding and vows where as traditional as you have (being married you couldn't help reciting certain points of the ceremony) with key points where they finally were announced as husband and wife and the kiss...

Phew what a kiss. Both tender and sweet, as Bella lost herself in the moment and finally got the man of her dreams. In the slow sequence where no one was behind them and you got the sense that Bella couldn't care less if the place was filled or not. The lovely moment for me is when they both looked down shyly as Bella leaned into Edward as the congregation all stood and applauded. For me it was times like that you saw the barrier of Edward and Bella fall and Robert and Kristen were experiencing the sense of completeness. Kristen and Rob have both expressed how 'special' the day was for them but it's more of an emotional recollection for Kristen, because she put herself in the Bride's moment. How in tune she was to everything a Bride feels that day; the Groom stands in a penguin suit, looks stiff and uncomfortable and can't wait for the reception, so he can have a stiff drink.
Tender and loving...
The precious moments of the movie; Honeymoon and Edward's persistent need to keep Bella occupied so that she would not think of the obvious are very funny. Bella trying to seduce Edward was far from the Edward we have known through three movies; here is where you most definitely saw Rob poking through and being more adorkable than ever. I know i am skipping past a lot but i feel if people want to know more, go and see the movie for yourself. What i am touching on is the acting not the story and the acting was superb.

The pregnancy was carefully done and i feel again, a lot could have been added in including Jacob/Rosalie, who would have lent a certain amount of comic relief to the dire situation. You got the sense of desperation from Bella to keep the baby and disgust from Edward in what it was doing to her. The repulsion and almost resignation of the revulsion Jacob has for Edward during this time, was very strong between the three main characters. I am tired of people constantly criticizing having Jacob Black anywhere near the story when in fact, he plays an integral part in Bella's future and her need to keep him around, thus torturing Edward. Those who don't understand this maybe don't understand the story completely and are possibly just blind to the whole 'It's Edward and Bella, why is he still here?' Over-sight causes this in many book fandoms, but it's very clear that SM did deliver a book series not everyone would agree on and not everyone can accept. I can't fault people thinking that Jacob is not needed, but for myself i believe he was. Taylor also has come under fire as well, those that have seen the movie will understand that Jacob's place finally gets understood at the very end, when he finally finds his place in the Cullen family. As it is pointed out very early on, he was born into a family but never felt he belonged - giving up his rightful place always made him feel second best.

In the end, he finds himself the stronger of the two and will even stand in front to protect what he belongs to. The imprinting (disgusted some more than others) for me, was all about the spiritual aspect because of the tribe's mythological past. So if anything, Bill Condon once again did for me, touch on the imprinting very tastefully - showing the daughter of Edward and Bella as a grown up and not a baby, and how finally Jacob understands how everything centres around that one person. The falling to the knees was especially poignant as this signifies his complete obedience to the centre of his universe and that is the one person he will protect with everything he believes in.
Kristen; the centre of Rob's world...
The change that happens to Bella finally, is what i wanted to see the most. I have to hand it to the computer wonders with the CGI, not to mention the make up on Kristen that made her look as if she was at death's door. You can understand and appreciate when Rob mentions that it was 'hard or difficult' walking onto the set each day and finding Kristen made up to look as if she had hours to live. Even the whole birth experience can be overlooked - gory as it was, it was once again brilliantly executed by both Taylor, Kristen and Rob, as Bella struggles to keep herself alive long enough for Edward to tear the child out of her womb. Even the cooing from Edward was both touching albeit a bit freaky, with gunk on his face LOL. But essentially it was the heart-wrenching plead from Edward/Rob that nearly done me in. I know this has been discussed at length now as practically everyone has seen it - multiple times it seems :) but they have all come to the same conclusion...

Edward, pleading with Bella to live. I have always believed that the connection between two people is very strong, especially when you become such a support unit for one and other. Rob and Kristen have always displayed and spoken about how much they support and encourage each other in other projects, but more importantly in everything that is Twilight. In a recent interview with Bill Condon this was said;

"But not that day. It was like he was looking into what it would feel like to lose Kristen."

This is a very perceptive director and one who directed both actors through the two instalments. We all know Rob is a very funny guy and sees humour in practically everything. He doesn't take much seriously, because life is too short. But his work, his embodiment of what he does he takes extremely seriously. That, and his private life. So for a man to look upon the situation he was playing, as if he was losing the person he loves more than anything. To plead with her to live, to beg her to fight...it takes emotions you don't just fake and perform or all you are doing in the end is performing and the story lacks anything at all. You felt his desperation, you saw the pain on his face as he pleaded with Bella to not leave him and that my dear readers, is not acting or there will be an Oscar waiting for Rob next year.

Partners who are also actors; tend to find one movie in which they can play characters opposite each other. The more emotional the drama, the deeper they have to search in order to put across a strong performance. It worked for Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, but didn't really work for Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman and that has all to do with egos.
Rob and Kristen - the team...
Rob and Kristen do not have egos. Her performances in movies come from deep inside her. She can take a character and slip it on like a second skin. Envelope the situation and play with her strengths and weaknesses. Rob is exactly the same and this is why they have worked so well for this movie saga. Each put into the role of Edward and Bella as a couple, because they believe in it and live and breathe it. To be just actors and play the part out, would have worked of course it would. But it would have lacked the deep down connection and chemistry they had right from the very beginning. And that is why the movies have worked. That is why teens and older have been able to identify with Bella Swan's story, because it's like looking at a young girl; deeply in love with a man who is deeply in love with her. Their performance in Breaking Dawn - part 1 has worked, because of them.

Rob was concerned that fans would have too many expectations because of the pretty obvious public perception of their off-screen relationship. I would have to say yes, to a certain degree that was a definite, but the same people had this perception in Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse - because without the chemistry between the two actors - Edward and Bella might never have worked.
Edward and Bella...
Breaking Dawn for me will be successful, because Rob and Kristen have made it successful. They have taken two characters and literally as well as passionately, made them their own. There is no two ways about it, the movie will leave you breathless and eager to see the next instalment. Having watched it, i am in awe with everything about it and that is speaking not only as a fan of Rob and Kristen, but a fan of the Twilight Saga since i opened Twilight and began reading it. The changing of Bella from human to vampire was done in a way that you witnessed the process and saw the flash backs into her life. Bill Condon deserves so much praise for taking a book and literally putting you on a roller coaster ride, without the barrier to hold you in. He brought a new lease of life into the book series and in a lot of ways...returned Edward and Bella back to their rightful place. A place that seemed to loose it's way from New Moon...(no disrespect to Chris Weitz)

Catherine Hardwicke, set the bar incredibly high with her interpretation of Twilight and Bill Condon has brought it full circle with Breaking Dawn.
Kristen and Rob with their 'best friend' Taylor...
You can say what you want, but in my opinion having three very strong and very content actors working together makes movie making much easier. Rob and Kristen are friends with Taylor like it or not. I believe they would defend him every opportunity they could if someone spoke ill of him. They each know what it is like to go through this madness that is Twilight and still remain relatively sane in the process. There are those out there who have nothing but negativity in their lives and the desperation to be something they aren't or want something they can't have and that is the sad truth of life.

There are haters out there who will use every excuse in the book to make their theory stick. Will make up stories and create fantasy that they end up believing, because their lies are so incredible. They will obsess and fixate on someone, because their life holds no meaning, and in turn create a hate against someone who doesn't deserve it. Rob is an actor, a very good actor - no actually he's an exceptional actor and he has someone very special in his life who knows exactly what he is going through. Kristen is a phenomenal actress and her acting just goes from strength to strength. Together they are beyond words when they act, beyond comprehension because you feel everything, including when Rob had to become angry at Kristen's character.

As actors; i would love to see them work on another project - they both want to work on another project and i feel that when the time is right and the script is right - and it seems every time Rob reads a script he always has Kristen in mind for the female part (that says so much) they will do another outstanding job. For those hoping Breaking Dawn would fail at the box office, because Kristen was starring alongside him - i have two words for you...

GROW UP!
Rob and Kristen - perfect...
This young woman means the world to him in more ways than any of the jealous haters will ever understand. She is the centre to everything he has worked for the last three years. Without Kristen's support and Catherine Hardwicke's gut determination - there would be no Robert Pattinson - actor that you have today. There would not be magazines and books, posters and movies to dwindle your small savings on. He would have giving up acting, because he felt it was getting him nowhere and settled to just being a musician - his first love.

He would not have to put up with the screaming lunacy of fans camped outside his door or hotel room. Have to endure constant bombardment of fans wanting his phone number, asking him to be with them in any way possible. Put up with watching his back whenever he steps out on the street and only feel safe when he can successfully loose whoever is following him. Read crap about him sleeping around with every available blond woman in the world, the constant reports of cheating and drunken nights. The hate that he has to let roll off him when people who class themselves as fans of his - direct it at Kristen.
"She is the only thing you need in your life..."
Kristen bares the brunt of a lot of the hate, because she is with the man she is in love with. No PR game could ever be worth the level of disgust she has to put up with, because some women out there need to get a life. But beside Rob she is strong, beside him she can and does successfully take on the world. There is a strong unit surrounding these two fantastic actors - that would put the Cullen's to shame. Contentment is shown easily in his eyes whenever he is around Kristen - she is his everything...

Much like Bella is to Edward.
