Vidya Balan - Lalta Jhatka on The Dirty Picture Music Launch

Vidya Balan rocked the show with her sizzling dance performance during the music launch of her much awaited movie “The Dirty Picture” at Inorbit Mall in Malad, Mumbai. She danced on the popular song  ’Ooh la la'.

Vidya Balan was accompanied with her co-stars also Naseeruddin Shah, Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor during the launch. Vidya’s role play as Silk Smitha has surely got lots of public attention and everyone wants to her her on silver screen portraying Silk.

Vidya Balan's The Dirty Picture

Check out the raunchy first look poster of "The Dirty Picture". In this film Vidya Balan will be seen playing south siren Silk Smitha.The film is based on the life of Silk Smitha and her tragic end. Vidya Balan has never exposed this much, but in her first look of "The Dirty Picture" she portrays Silk Smitha's sensual avatar perfectly  in a red blouse matched with luscious red lipstick.The poster features Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah, Tusshar Kapoor and serial kisser Emraan Hashmi.

Who is Silk Smitha ?

Born as Vijayalakshmi to a poor family in Eluru (Andhra Pradesh, India) on December 2, 1960. She left school after 4th standard to become a film star. She moved to Madras now Chennai which was the center of South Indian film Industry. There she found a sponsor who renamed her Smitha and she started her film career.  She soon became famous for her bold roles on screen. In 1979 film "Vandi Chakkaram" she got her first major break where she played a girl named Silk. After that she became famous as Silk Smitha. Her hot item numbers and Cabarets were considered an essential part of the 80's cinema. She starred in over 200 Tamil,Telugu,Malayalam, Kannada and some hindi films too. She lived a glamorous on screen life but her off screen life was lonely which led to a tragic end. She faced financial crisis and also failed attempts to turn a film producer. She was found dead in her apartment in Chennai in 1996. While many claimed her death was a suicide, the real reason behind her death still remains a mystery.
