I interrupt my weekend to bring you this...
Cue mass panic!!
I don't need Gossip Cop to debunk this innate drivel from HollywoodLife (although the name of the site should give you a little hint) I don't need Ted Casablanca or any other Drama Queen (that means you Perez) to make an article full of hot air and bullshit, to grab my attention. I just us logic, common sense and a strong dose of reality, to let me know that when you want drama in your life, it will always come and find you.
The fickle mind of the fanatical fan, is not a very good place to be. In fact, truth be told, it's even scarier than trying to get inside a hater/harpies mind - and that's saying something. A fanatical is on the cusp between sane and insane, when it comes to all things Robert Pattinson related. It seems they roll from one mood to another, depending on what has been written in the gossip sites/gossip magazines/bookmarked Perez Hilton, Lainey gossip, Ted Casablanca and his Awful Truth board. And practically anywhere else that holds a smidgen of gossip, mixed with half truths, so called sources close to the actor and indeed online blogs and message boards. Which are mostly filled with teens who blow everything out of proportion and wonder why adults 'don't understand them.'
So - take one article which is not exactly worth it's grain in salt, from a site that has often misquoted and mislead it's readers; describing why Rob did not get a role in the remake of The Man from U.N.C.L.E and all hell breaks loose. Fans of Rob scream and shout 'it's not fair, why did he not get the role, he would have been perfect.' While haters of Rob (yes they're a pretty two faced bunch if you ask me - fans one minute, haters the next) snicker and sneer with 'Oh he's washed up now that Twilight is finished, this is just the beginning wait and see.' Of course amongst the sneering drivel of despair, we have the usual chant 'It's all Kristen Stewart's fault, it's because he's with her - Twilight and his dumb relationship has ruined his career - it's all over!!'
Chuckle, Snort, Giggle, Guffaw
First of all, i think i need one of those placards that reads 'Keep Calm, Grow Up And Stop Reading Gossip!' because really, the amount of excessive whining, wailing and complaining, topped with the desperate hate that has flooded my inbox and twitter - dear god! I need a really big shovel to clean up the shit that has been flying all directions and a mop, to mop up the foam that has dried and become sticky. Because goodness me - fanatical doesn't quite cover it!!
Rob lost out on a role - and what? It's not the first time he has lucked out on a role and it certainly won't be the last. He is out there amongst other actors now; all vying for the same roles, all just as talented, all just as handsome and all just as eager to take on another role. You would think judging by the hysterical panic, that this is the end of his acting career? The only problem i find in this article (apart from it's been posted in HL) is this -
'According to a source from Warner Bros *rolls eyes* the director is interested in working with someone he has worked with before or someone who is not yet famous, an unknown - he just doesn't want the film to be overshadowed.'
Why would the movie be overshadowed?
Press interest? There is nothing wrong with a bit of interest to promote a movie, hence little gems like behind the scene interviews, generate a bit of interest when the movie finally gets released. Every director allows the media onto the set of the movie they are directing, as long as it is not detrimental to the shooting schedule or the actors working on it.
On Set Romance interest? It's not something a director likes to get involved in, especially when it involves the above (press interest) so they tend to keep anything 'private' happening between members of the cast under lock and key. It's also something that can be frowned upon; it creates more pressure, especially if say the romance turns sour and the couple who got together, fall apart - the line between professional and personal gets blurred and creates added tension.
Fan Interest? When does a fan become a problem, when does the constant traffic of fans of the actor/actress become too much? When does the fickle mind of the fanatical fan prove too much for some directors, who feel that the constant draw of attention to the set each day, becomes increasingly worrying. When it sometimes holds up production, because the fans try desperately to catch a glimpse of the star they love by breaking rules, getting into sets that are closed off and creating hassle for the security team, who are put there for a reason - to protect the stars working on the movie.
You know where i am going with this don't you?
I know there are legions of Rob fans out there who adore him desperately. But to what cost? They believe they have a right to travel to the sets of movies he has made and stand outside - hours on end, just to catch a glimpse of him. When they are not doing that, they try to get onto the set, sometimes holding up production because they 'just want to get a picture, an autograph' This fanatical behaviour also holds up other members of cast as well, who find it bizarre the amount of people hanging around from the very small hours of the morning, to last thing at night - chanting his name, shouting out how much they love him.
I understand the adoration i really do. But when you have mothers who encourage this kind of hyped hysteria. When they are the ones travelling long distances, taking their kids out of school to go and visit a set Rob is working on (Water For Elephants) to stand there all day long hoping to get one glimpse of him being brought in by his car...
When you have girls who take the day off school and literally almost close down one section of New York City (Remember Me) just so they can physically get as close to him as possible, dressed in the most provocative outfits and screaming his name to the point of nearly making him deaf...
When you have groups of fans trying to invade the set just to get close to him; they get close enough to his trailer to knock on the door, flouting all security measures in doing so (Bel Ami and Cosmopolis) causing a commotion, because if that had been someone trying to harm him or a member of the cast - it causes more trouble than it's worth. This causes nightmares literally for the director and security team who try desperately to keep the set as safe as possible, to keep the cast as happy as possible. To stop the hold up of production, that has a knock on effect in getting the movie made on time and in budget.
Not to mention that the cast who are working with Rob witness the hysteria that surrounds him everywhere they go, and sometimes end up being the target of the hate from over-zealous, jealous women, who don't want anyone near Rob but them.
Kristen Stewart (firm favourite from the hateful hags) Emilie de Ravin (Remember Me) Reese Witherspoon (Water for Elephants) Sara Gadon (Cosmopolis) The only movie so far that has not got a strew of hate filled threats, has been Bel Ami. But then let's face it, there were far too many actresses on that movie for the haters to only pick one to hate upon.
IF what HollywoodLife is saying is true (and i will remain forever sceptical at their excuse for decent journalism) then this is not exactly painting Rob's fans in a very good light now is it?
What else would overshadow his ability to get a role? Like i said at the beginning of this post, it's not his acting ability; he is just as talented and just as focused as the next actor. But then again, the fans who are complaining, are the same bunch of whining women who cry that 'Rob needs a break, he's working back to back on movies. He needs a vacation, he needs to go back to London. Oh wait, DON'T go back to London, Kristen Stewart is there!'
Like i said 'fickle minds of the fanatical fan'
IF you want to be a respectful fan of Robert Pattinson, then ask yourself this question. Do you really think hanging around on his movie sets, sometimes holding up production and causing a nuisance, is really appreciated by Rob?
Rob DOES appreciate his fans, of course he does. But i think he would appreciate them more if they paid to go and watch his movies. Showed their loyalty by supporting the roles he gets, not stalk the sets he works on.
Just my opinion of course...

*This post was brought to you today because of the article that was posted in HollywoodLife. NOT every fan i hasten to add of Robert Pattinson - is a set stalker. Just the fickle, fanatical fans who believe it's their duty to stalk every single movie he works on. The same can be said of set stalkers in general; Kristen has had one or two who have overstepped the boundary of 'private set location - Keep Out!' while filming 'Snow White and the Huntsman.*
Its seems there is an over growing sense of panic amongst those who call themselves fans of Robert Pattinson, over a recent article in which it's laid claim...that he lost out on a role in an up and coming movie. So could this mean the end of Robert Pattinson as an actor?
<Insert Sarcasm>Cue mass panic!!
