The Best Kisses - Three years in a row... |
Of course there are some bitter harpies out there today; a few I've found myself a little bewildered at, because they appear to be Potter fans - and not really happy ones at that as their movie franchise only walked away with one award. And even that was for Slytherin nemesis - Draco Malfoy aka the delightful Tom Felton as Best Villain.
Look...takes a deep breath and puts on big girl knickers; it's pretty simple when you look at it.
Harry Potter has been successfully going since 2000. Stars; Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint have grown up in front of their fans from 'young children to fully grown adults'. The books have been written with young children to young adults in mind. JK Rowling has always been very specific about the genre her books have been created for, and the age limit and expectations of her reading fan base. Therefore as such, Warner Brothers have always treated that with respect and created the movies around that literacy fantasy.
Twilight have always been written with 'young adults' in mind and as such, the mood of the books created by Stephenie Meyer have always reflected that. The stars; Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner have always been shown in a more grown up way. The four books have taken the journey from teenage to adulthood very seriously, and tackle it in such a way that the outcome of the story, is for the main characters to get married and have a family - because the fantasy genre that Stephenie Meyer created, is a much more darker and a lot more adult than any Harry Potter book could ever be.
Two different genres, two different outcomes.
For people to start whining and complaining now - please it's just poor loser syndrome.
Harry Potter; although much darker and coming to the end of it's run for fantasy fiction stories, it really doesn't have the pulling power that a bunch of vampires and a broken headboard could ever have. Harry falls in love with Ginny the red head similarity to his dear late mother (didn't see that one coming - i thought Hermione was a much better match?) Speaking of his brainier other half, Ron finally claims Hermione as his own (gag reflex at the ready). Most of the Weasley's survive the massacre and Voldemort gets defeated once again by the boy wizard who simply won't die. Edward (dashing undead boyfriend) falls in love with Bella (the clumsy human) and throughout the book series; they have to tackle other vamps trying to kill Bella (no evil dark lord but a bunch of blood thirsty monsters) and beat off annoying childhood friend who turns into a wolf and then imprints on the daughter of Edward and Bella (gag reflex once more) and you have the typical love story with the hottest bedroom scene slipped in at the very last minute, to tease during the two minute trailer.
Speaking of the trailer...
I was on tender-hooks last night because some how before the MTV Movie Awards - Summit (rolls eyes) mistakenly released the trailer onto their 'official' Breaking Dawn site - believing that they were testing it. Now colour me suspicious, but you don't put up a test site a day before and then tweet it has gone live, decide to test the site by putting up the trailer hours before a live event?
Either way, the Twi fans were in a tizzy - so much was in that 2 minute trailer for everyone to be delighted; half naked Jacob running away in disgust after receiving his Wedding Invitation from a sneaky Edward (as in the book) Mum and Dad of Bella looking at theirs with a resigned grimace from Charlie and a delighted smile from Renee. We have the Volturi getting theirs (eek) and the main event itself...Edward marrying Bella. Honeymoon *nudge, nudge, wink, wink* because lets face it, we all know what's going to happen. Broken headboard (be still my rapidly beating heart) all those back muscles being put to good use - well Rob did boast about the hours of gym work he had to put in, plus cycling his bike around the closed movie lot in Baton Rouge. Finally accumulating in waterfall hanky panky with what a surprise, Bella discovering she's pregnant. The shocked look mirrors every young blushing Bride when they find out their honeymoon frolicking has resulted in a little baby...just not as quickly as Bella does LOL.
Such a tender moment from Bella's husband... |
Can i just say what a delight it was to wake up this morning and receive some lovely DM's, letting me know Twilight swept the board including Best Kiss last night? Seeing as I'm on the other side of the duck pond and won't be able to watch the MTV awards until tonight - it tickled me pink to know that Eclipse practically won in each of their categories.
Kristen - stunning in a blood red Balmain mini-dress |
Only eyes for you Kristen... |
Best Male Performance;
Despite the category filled with some fine actors - Rob won it once again, proving the Twi-fans are incredibly loyal.
Yes I've won it again... |
Best Fight;
Between several good movies from last year and some really good fight sequences...the duel between Victoria, Riley and Edward won hands down...
Rob, Xavier and Bryce pick up Best Fight... |
Yes i know, Rob's verbal filter was definitely turned off last night and poor Kristen looked absolutely flabbergasted, but she knows what Rob is like when he gets a little excited and that young man was all kinds of excited last night.
Best Kiss;
You must first forgive me if i don't have them in order; note I've not seen the awards show just yet (that comes later on this evening in the UK - MTV 9pm) Everyone was anticipating the 'Best Kiss' award and would Rob and Kristen successfully win it three years in a row?
No pressure there then LOL. Well as luck would have it - they did!

Be still my beating heart...
Leaving the stage together hand in hand. |
Rob and Kristen backstage... |
Despite the fact that they showed a lot of restraint on-stage; it's moments like this off-stage that warm the cockles of many a shipper/fan's heart. They were seen holding hands and giggling at each other; whispering as they stood in a very quiet corner by themselves.
Best Female Performance;
The category was extensive this year, with so many worth while actresses up for the Best Female award. But just like the other categories, Twi-fans voted well and Kristen won yet again;
Rob was noticeably absent while Kristen went on stage and delivered her speech - considering that immediately after Kristen collected her Popcorn award; both she, Rob and Taylor were up to introduce the Breaking Dawn Part One teaser trailer (see above in case you missed it) so i can imagine his goofy grin as he stood backstage and watched her announce "Sorry Natalie but the Popcorn is mine"
Kristen - proud owner of the Best Female award (yet again!) |
After successfully winning in their categories; Rob, Kristen and Taylor took to the stage to introduce the teaser trailer that was leaked on line. Yes, despite MTV announcing that they had a special surprise for all Twilight fans and the build up to the first glimpses of 'Breaking Dawn', Summit mistakenly released it before hand. But that didn't stop the trio allowing others the excitement who didn't give into the temptation (unlike me) of watching it for the first time.
Kristen and Rob... |
Along with a happy Taylor; still recovering from his smooch from Rob... |
Although this had nothing to do with Twilight; Rob was asked alongside former co-star from Sweet Home Alabama (love that movie) Patrick Dempsey - drool...who is a close friend and Chelsea Handler, whom i believe is also a good friend and allowed the winner to appear in some sketches of her show...Reese Witherspoon;
Rob with his carefully planned out speech from from Vanity Fair to Water for Elephants... |
Do i really want to know what's going on here? |
Speaking of Kristen and Reese;
Co-Stars of Rob posing together... |
BWAHAHAHAHA!
How about another one?
Ryan Reynolds with Reese, Rob and Kristen... |
Best Movie;
Voting that was still going while the show aired, finally came to a conclusion as Twilight Saga - Eclipse won Best Movie Award. Beating off Black Swan, Inception, Deathly Hallows to name but a few.

A little bit of Aww and flack chequered shoes - so Kristen... |
My thoughts of the night?
I know this sounds so cliché, but the night completely belonged to Rob and Kristen. They swept the boards with their awards, they entertained the audience with acceptance speech and cuteness. Followed by cute verbal PDA as Rob grabbed Kristen after hamming it up with Taylor. The fans got to see them in all their awkward glory, except less awkwardness and just simply 'them' just the way they are.
The happy couple... |
It was a night in which everyone got a bit of everything and no one was left out. Some suggesting Rob should have been the host, because he was up on stage more times than the host Jason Sudeikis was. Kristen stole the night with her edgy dress and cute self, as she collected her award smiled and shook her head at Rob's little speeches, and told him to 'go and get him honey' as he flew off the stage towards Taylor. There was also the collective giggle and hand hold as Kristen and Rob watched the trailer when the cheer went up for the 'bedroom/headboard scene' between Edward and Bella. It was a 'Rob and Kristen extravaganza' for all to see and enjoy. What will happen next year? Who really knows. This time next year it will be Breaking Dawn Part One up against the competition; including once again Deathly Hallows Part Two. Who will win...only you the fans...can decide.
Rob has only eyes for one woman in his life... |
